IRWG/TCCON 2012 Meeting

Location

Wengen is a Swiss holiday resort situated on a sheltered sun terrace, on the North slope of the Bernese Alps, at the foot of the famous mountains Eiger – Mönch – Jungfrau, at 1274 m altitude (4180 ft.).

A view from the railway to Kleine Scheidegg in the direction of Wengen.

Wengen is located midway on the railway line going from Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg where there is a connection to the train going up to the Jungfraujoch.

Numerous hiking trails leave Wengen and you may enjoy walking around the village or to Kleine Scheidegg or Lauterbrunnen.

Wengen is also connected by aerial cableway to the Maennlichen mountain top where you can enjoy a splendid view over the Alps as well as a nearly flat hiking trail.

Wengen is the village closest to the Jungfraujoch where hotels of sufficient size are still available for a meeting like the joint IRWG/TCCON.

As in 1999, the meeting will be held in the Regina Hotel which can accommodate 40 guests with laptops and a video projector. Also, the excellent cooking left sweet memories to many IRWG attendees…
